Winter Draft Begins: First Conscripts to Start Service Today
On December 16, the winter draft of 2019 has officially commenced. Today, the first conscripts will begin their mandatory military service.
The Ministry of Defense's press service reports that the process of replenishing the armed forces is strictly controlled by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, the leadership of the Armed Forces General Staff, and law enforcement agencies.
To ensure systematic cooperation among all participating entities, uphold the legality and transparency of the draft process, and exclude corrupt practices, the draft process is firmly based on the procedure of a lottery for choosing the place of military service.
Serving in the armed forces and ensuring the security of one's own people and the defense of the homeland is a constitutional duty of every citizen of the Republic of Armenia. We urge the population to support the implementation of this national significance event.
It should be noted that by the order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, a commission has been established under the Public Council to discuss citizens' applications and complaints during the winter draft of 2019. For more information, please call 010-52-34-82.
Wishing peaceful service to the defenders of the homeland.
