Parliament to Verify Investments of Lydian Armenia
According to the newspaper "Hayrapet", the investigative committee of the National Assembly will hold a session next week to examine the legality, justification, and credibility of the financial and other reports presented and accepted by the executive on investment programs in the metal mining sector. This will be the third session of the committee. A document is being prepared regarding the financial expenditures of Lydian Armenia, the company responsible for operating the Amulsar mine.
The company has claimed to make an investment of 400 million drams; however, doubts have arisen in the National Assembly regarding this amount, and inquiries have been sent to the relevant authorities, which will clarify whether the company has actually made such an investment or if the figure has been exaggerated. "Until we receive responses to our inquiries sent to the relevant authorities, I cannot say anything," said committee chair Sergey Bagratyan.
It is noteworthy that the committee's scope of investigation includes 27 mines, with Amulsar at the top of the list, followed by Teghut, Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum, and the gold mine owned by Gagik Tsarukyan, which ranks fourth. The order was determined based on discussions among committee members, according to Bagratyan.
