Inmate Dies at the Prison Hospital

On December 13, at approximately 14:40, a biological death was registered at the RA Ministry of Justice's "Prison Hospital" of a detained individual, Hamlet Khoren Tumanyan, born in 1969. This information was reported by the Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service.

According to the preliminary diagnosis, the cause of death was acute respiratory failure. Tumanyan was facing charges under Article 34-177, paragraph 3, subparagraph 1.1, of the RA Criminal Code, being investigated by the Tavush regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Tumanyan had been detained and admitted to the "Vanadzor" penitentiary institution on December 7, 2019, and was transferred to the "Prison Hospital" on December 12, 2019, upon the doctor's recommendation due to a diagnosis of chronic alcoholism.

Materails are being prepared regarding the incident. A forensic medical examination has been appointed.
