Is it a Disrespect to the State Apparatus When Attending a Meeting in Jeans and Sneakers? Khachatryan
During the extraordinary session of the council, which discussed the increase of funds allocated from Yerevan's budget for the New Year celebrations, Ani Khachatryan, a member of the 'Lus' faction, asked the mayor a question.
“For several days, there have been rumors circulating in the media. Let me quote the mayor’s words: when I said that showing up in jeans and sneakers is a disrespect towards the state apparatus. This is the highest session of Yerevan’s local self-government today. Is it not a disrespect towards the state apparatus when council members attend in jeans and sneakers, or is this not a state apparatus?” said Ani Khachatryan.
The mayor simply thanked her and passed the floor to the next member in line, as Ani Khachatryan posed her question during her speech.
One of the members of the 'My Step' faction also advised the leaders of factions at the end of the session to open the regulations and read them, warning not to speak out of turn, which, to say the least, did not sit well with those it was directed at.
