If it’s suicide, why are there bruises on the body and broken fingers: Relatives of the serviceman

Today, a protest was held in front of the National Assembly by the relatives of Artur Ishkhani Ajamyans, an ethnic Yazidi who suffered a fatal gunshot wound. They met with Nahapet ZOhrabyan, a member of the Parliament from the BHK party.

The relatives questioned how it could be suicide when there were bruises on the young man's body and his fingers were broken. They asserted that it was a murder and that a third person was involved.

The relatives demanded that Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, come down and meet with them. Kocharyan responded that he would address the issue, stating, “Our committee stands by you, and we will do everything to uncover the truth because this is the most horrendous thing happening in the army—suicide or murder. Our task is to eradicate them as soon as possible.”

The relatives insisted, “If the investigation is underway, why are they claiming it’s suicide? Furthermore, where is the commander who went up to the positions with the soldiers? Why is he not speaking up or clarifying what has happened?”

Andranik Kocharyan replied, “The preliminary investigation body will provide answers to those questions; my task is to ensure these answers are objective.”
