72,000 Young Fish Released Near the Mouths of Karchaghbyur and Masrik Rivers
The Eco-Media Network reports that in 2019, approximately 72,000 young fish of the Sevan trout were released. This was part of the comprehensive program 'Restoration of Sevan Trout Stocks and Development of Fish Farming', undertaken by the Foundation for the Restoration of Sevan Trout Stocks and Development of Fish Farming, continuing the release operations initiated in 2015.
The release was carried out with the direct involvement of a specialized working group established by the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia under decree No. 138-A on June 6, 2016. On November 19 of this year, around 11,000 summer trout averaging 22.5g and approximately 40,000 Gegharkunik sub-species averaging 3.5g were released. Subsequently, on November 26th, another batch was released consisting of around 11,000 summer trout averaging 21.5g and about 10,000 Gegharkunik trout averaging 45.2g.
The young fish were obtained from the fish farm owned by 'Sevan Trout' LLC, and the release took place in areas adjacent to the mouths of Karchaghbyur and Masrik rivers. Thus, in 2019, approximately 72,000 young fish of the Sevan trout were released, including 22,000 summer trout and 50,000 Gegharkunik sub-species.
