«Hraparak»: Will Marutyan's Resignation Be Inevitable?
«Hraparak» newspaper writes that the Prosecutor's Office has begun investigating the scandal involving ‘KamAZ’ vehicles. Some claim that Marutyan's resignation is inevitable. Who could be the next candidate from the ‘My Step’ faction? We asked a source from the city hall. “No one. The most likely candidate is Hrach Sargsyan, who is from the ‘Mission’ party, which is a disadvantage for him. It’s clear, right? Under no circumstances will Pashinyan agree to have a representative from another party become the mayor,” the source stated.
Sargsyan will become part of ‘My Step’. “No, there’s something more serious – when Marutyan was on vacation, Hrach was the acting mayor. Hrach is accused of allowing forgeries in paperwork regarding that, and Davit Khajakyan has appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office about this issue. After Hrach’s departure, the other deputy mayor, Hayk Sargsyan, became acting mayor, which he has no right to do,” the source elaborated. “Have they thought this through?”
“I can’t say, but I do not exclude it; they could have issued the order so that when Marutyan went on vacation, he first transferred his powers to Hrach, and then to Hayk, before going. Hayk cannot be elected mayor as he is not a member of the council, whereas Hrach can, and he has also been dragged into this falsification story.” Who is the potential successor from ‘My Step’? “There is no suitable candidate, but one can always place some ‘poly-pet’ in charge.”
