An Unsuccessful Attempt to Draw Attention: Alen Simonyan on the Painting of Griboedov's Statue
The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, commented on the incident of painting the statue of Alexander Griboedov in Yerevan during a conversation with journalists. Simonyan emphasized that he wants to avoid poorly phrased evaluations while nonetheless stating, 'This person simply doesn’t know who Griboedov is, what role he played, and why he was killed. I do not wish to say anything bad in my assessment, but believe me, there is a place for negative remarks. This is vandalism, which is unacceptable and has no relation to the goal he mentioned.'
Simonyan regarded the act as an unsuccessful attempt to draw attention and happily emphasized that it was not well received by the public.
