Court Rejects Robert Kocharian's Lawyer's Motion for Prosecutor's Recusal
Judge Anna Danibekyan returned from the consultation room and announced the decision regarding Prosecutor Karen Bisharyan's recusal motion.
It is reminded that today, the lawyer of the second president Robert Kocharian, Hovhannes Khudoyan, had submitted an oral motion regarding the recusal of Prosecutor Bisharyan. According to the lawyer, back on February 23, 2018, during discussions in parliament about the events of March 1, 2008, Bisharyan saw no grounds to even question Kocharian as a witness.
“Later, the prosecutor suddenly found grounds for arrest. Although the circumstances that formed the basis for the accusation had already been known before, namely the 0038 order and its introduction into the Administrative Code. There was even a raised issue about the involvement of the Armed Forces. This indicates the prosecutor's subjective attitude due to the change in the political situation,” the lawyer said.
Upon returning from the consultation room, the judge rejected the motion. The judge read the decision in a nearly empty courtroom. The next hearing will take place on December 3 at 13:00.
