122.5 Tons of Chewing Tobacco Imported into Armenia by July
Recently, the Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, raised concerns about the consequences of using chewing tobacco, known as Snus. The minister indicated that they will be addressing specific retailers.
Auroranews contacted the minister's press secretary, Alina Nikoghosyan, to clarify how the minister is "dealing with" Snus-selling shops and what steps have been taken to purify the market. She noted that currently there are no specific data available, but more information will be provided later.
It is also worth mentioning that Auroranews received information from the State Revenue Committee regarding the importation of Snus. The response from the SRC is presented below.
They inform that the sale of chewing tobacco is prohibited in many countries due to its harmful effects.
