I Told Avinyan: What You Are Doing Is Wrong, Don’t Do It, There Will Be Problems: Petrosyan

Former head of the Cadastre Committee Sarhat Petrosyan asserts that he informed Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan about clan-like corruption. "The former head of the Urban Development Committee, who has never been active in Armenia, is now the owner of the largest design company and manages massive investment projects," Petrosyan stated during his interview on Freedom Radio.

He clarified that he was referring to Avetik Eloyan. "Everyone is aware of this, Avinyan knows it; I have personally told him about it, the entire architectural community is aware, and they are looking on with their mouths open, saying, 'We don’t understand.' Even during the previous corrupt government, no official openly declared such schemes in project planning," he said.

Petrosyan remarked that an official who has not engaged in any activity in Armenia is currently designing the country’s tallest building. "This is a clearly documented case of conflict of interest, and I can comfortably rephrase the conflict of interest phenomenon and label it as clan corruption," he added.

He noted that if law enforcement and the Civil Contract party are interested in investigating the activities of their party representatives, they can come and ask him, as he is ready to provide additional evidence.

Petrosyan emphasized that when he had a diploma in architectural engineering, Tigran Avinyan was still a school student. "Throughout my career, I have been one of the leading experts in the field of urban development. I believe it will take Avinyan another two to three years to have the same understanding of urban development that someone who studied architecture possesses," he noted.

He stressed that he has told Tigran Avinyan several times that what they are doing is wrong. "I have told Avinyan multiple times, 'What you are doing is wrong; don’t do that, or there will be problems,'" Petrosyan added.
