What Happened to My Grandmother Cannot Be a Question for Archaeologists: Pailan to Erdogan

Karo Pailan, an ethnic Armenian MP from Turkey's pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party, has responded to Erdogan's criticism regarding the adoption of a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Erdogan stated about the Armenian Genocide, "This issue is for historians. This issue is for archaeologists. Let this issue not be politicized." Pailan countered, stating, "Historians cannot address the genocide that was executed by the political decision of Talaat Pasha... What happened to my (paternal) grandmother cannot be a question for archaeologists," Pailan wrote on his Twitter microblog.

It is worth noting that on October 29, a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide was adopted by a majority vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. Out of those who participated in the vote, 405 congress members voted in favor, 11 against, 3 abstained, while 14 members did not vote.
