I'll Stretch My Legs, Lie Down, and Tell My Wife to Go to Work: Gevorg Petrosyan

They say that tomorrow the Venice Commission will come to convince you that the Istanbul Convention is positive. This was stated today during a conversation with reporters by Gevorg Petrosyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction.

"They say that social stereotypes regarding roles in the family should change. This means that the people from Venice should come and convince me to stretch my legs at home, lie down, and tell my wife to go work and support me, because have social stereotypes changed? Should the people from Venice come and convince me that families with partners are a normal phenomenon? My message to the Venice Commission is that they are coming to a country that is a cradle of civilization, whose Constitution's first article states that Armenia is a sovereign state, and we will never allow views that contradict the customs and worldview of our people to be imposed on the neck of a sovereign state," said the deputy.
