A Soldier Has Been Missing for 5 Days from a Kapan Military Unit
The soldier, who had been serving in a military unit of the Armenian Ministry of Defense located in the city of Kapan in Syunik province, has been missing for 5 days after voluntarily leaving the base with no news since.
This was reported to SHAMSHYAN.com by the soldier's relative, Khnar G., who is seeking assistance in finding their soldier son. "He had already served for 9 months, and he has never expressed any dissatisfaction with his service. The child left the military unit voluntarily and exited the area 5 days ago," stated the relative.
According to the relative, the Ministry of Defense's Military Police from the central apparatus, as well as the military police officers in Kapan, Vanadzor, and Yerevan, have been in daily contact with family members. They have indicated that they still have no updates on the whereabouts of the soldier. "But the child is not a needle that falls into a haystack and disappears. The command is telling us that the soldier jumped over the wall and left the base, claiming that he had asked for permission to exit but was denied, and he left voluntarily. I do not know when they noticed the child's disappearance at the unit. After that, the command and Military Police began searching in both Vanadzor and Yerevan, but we still have had no information for several days," the relative disclosed.
The relative mentioned that they do not even know what might have caused such a decision. "On the first day he went missing, he called and was still satisfied, but why he did such a thing is a mystery to us." The relatives have appealed to the relevant authorities to do everything possible to locate him.
According to the media outlet, from the first day of the command's awareness of the soldier's voluntary departure from the unit, the Military Police from Kapan, Vanadzor, and Yerevan have been involved in the search for him, as the child was registered in Vanadzor but lived in Yerevan. The oversight of the search for the soldier has been taken on by the head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense.
Auroranews.am contacted the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, to verify the accuracy of the reports, but the spokesman requested to call back later.
