Concerns Over Dust Reaching Jermuk Are Unfounded, Says Yura Ivanyan

Experts have concluded that the air quality impact of the Amulsar mine operation is manageable. This was stated earlier today by Yura Ivanyan, the head of the investigative group of the Investigative Committee of Armenia on the Amulsar case, during a press conference.

“The impact on biodiversity has been assessed as adequate, and concerning the evaluation of air quality, experts have not identified serious issues that cannot be mitigated. In other words, the impact of the project on air quality is manageable, and all concerns that dust will reach nearby settlements, including Jermuk, are unfounded,” noted Ivanyan.

Journalists asked Ivanyan whether the assessment was conducted separately or based on the expert materials from “Lydian Armenia.” Yura Ivanyan responded that experts were provided with various studies and research, but not exclusively with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reports.

It is worth noting that on August 14, the Investigative Committee published the results of a comprehensive assessment related to the operation of the Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite deposits.
