Emergency Incident: 2 Minors Admitted to Hospital with Gunshot Wounds
On August 24, an emergency incident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 5:30 PM, a call was received by the Kotayk division of the police from the "Abovyan" medical center, reporting that two children had been admitted with diagnoses of "blind gunshot wound to the left side of the abdominal wall" and "blind gunshot wound to the soft tissues of the left forearm." According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Kotayk division of police, led by division head Artak Ghazaryan, went to the hospital.
Police determined that the injured were 14-year-old A. A. and 16-year-old N. A., residents of Abovyan. Hospital doctors informed the police that the children's lives and health were not in danger. Police also established that on the same day, around 5:00 PM, a 17-year-old resident of Abovyan, E. G., fired shots with an air gun (TIR) at a nectarine tree in their yard, inadvertently striking A. A. and N. A.
Materials are being prepared in the investigative division of the Kotayk police regarding the incident. Police also discovered the firearm.
