150 Employees of Gyumri Night Shelter Will Lose Jobs, They Handed a Letter to the Prime Minister

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs is dissolving two night shelters in Gyumri without valid reasons, leaving 150 employees unemployed. This was reported to NEWS.am by one of the shelter workers, who attempted to communicate the issue to the Prime Minister.

“The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs is dissolving two night shelters in Gyumri without valid reasons, which will leave 150 employees unemployed. Not to mention the many children from socially vulnerable backgrounds, children of single parents, or orphans who do not have shelter or basic living conditions. We urge the minister to reconsider his decision,” said one of the employees.

When asked what prompted the minister to make such a decision, the shelter worker stated that the minister believes the issue can be resolved through foster families. The employees also noted that they have been offered to become foster families.

“Foster families send children from orphanages, and these senseless European experiments should not be implemented in the Shirak plain. Three days ago, without notifying us, they said that the children should not come to the shelter,” said one of the workers.

They also mentioned that they have handed a letter to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, informing him of their problem. The protesting workers were listened to by the parliamentary faction of the Prosperous Armenia Party, MP Arman Abovyan, who promised to familiarize himself with the issue.
