Edmon Marukyan Calls on Government to Strengthen Shirak Airport

At a time when I was advocating for the need to increase routes from Gyumri's Shirak Airport, it did not naturally become a subject of substantive discussion. This was stated by Edmon Marukyan, the head of the Bright Armenia faction, on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted, “This time I decided to personally utilize Gyumri Airport to understand the conditions it offers to passengers, and I must say that the airport has great potential for development. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the local border service, lounge, and customs staff for their responsibility, warmth, and willingness to explain how their airport can develop and how they envision and anticipate it.”

Meanwhile, according to the information currently received, the Irish company RyanAir is entering the Armenian market, but it is signing a contract not with Shirak but with Zvartnots Airport, which again strengthens Zvartnots and, consequently, weakens the position of Gyumri Airport.

Thus, my call to the government is to strengthen the potential of Gyumri Airport as much as possible, improve the conditions of the lounge and, most importantly, finally make efforts to add new routes from Shirak Airport to strengthen its position and competitive opportunities in the market.
