Currently, There is No Evidence that the Amulsar Mine will Impact the Environment or Human Health, Says Arsen Torossyan
Arsen Torossyan, the Minister of Health, stated that there is currently no evidence that the environmental risks of the Amulsar mine exploitation could affect the health of the population. In a conversation with reporters today, Torossyan noted that if such evidence were to emerge, the ministry would take appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate any potential harm.
“At this moment, we do not have any evidence that there would be any impact on the environment or human health. If such evidence arises, we will take the necessary steps to either eliminate or mitigate it,” he said.
When asked if the ministry has conducted any studies, the minister responded, “The ministry has participated in the expertise, the judicial process, and has also reviewed the final conclusion, regarding which we have our brief information opinion in several respects: with regard to the thermal waters of Jermuk, that there is no connection, regarding Lake Sevan, that there is no danger, and regarding air pollution, which may occur during the intense construction process, but it is so far from residential areas that it will not affect the population. This is an ongoing process, and now we can talk about any other mine without focusing solely on this one.”
