Large Fire in Voghjaberd Successfully Extinguished in the Morning

On August 18, at 17:33, the Emergency Service received an alert regarding a grass fire near the village of Voghjaberd in the Kotayk region. A firefighting unit from the Emergency Situations Rescue Department in Yerevan was dispatched to the scene.

Based on the situation, two additional firefighting units from Yerevan's Rescue Department and a response team from the National Center for Crisis Management were also sent to the location. At 20:27, the fire was classified as complexity level '2', leading to the deployment of a specialized rescue team from the Emergency Service's Rescue Forces Administration and an on-duty doctor from the Disaster Medicine Center. Subsequently, four more firefighting units from the fire and rescue services of Yerevan and regional administrations were dispatched.

The fire was contained by 23:16 and fully extinguished by 07:21 the following morning. Approximately 40 hectares of grassland were burned in the incident. A duty roster has been established. The firefighting efforts also included the participation of 110 residents from the villages of Geghadir and Voghjaberd.
