Meeting of Ombudsmen of Armenia and Russia Discusses Use of Armenian Driver's Licenses in Russia
In Moscow, a discussion took place between Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and Tatiana Moskalkova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, addressing concerns related to our compatriots who are working abroad or residing in Russia.
The Human Rights Defender's Office reports that this discussion is held for the first time, despite individual discussions occurring on specific cases faced by our citizens in Russia. Responsible representatives have been appointed from both sides to address all related issues.
The agenda included matters regarding the calculation of work periods in the pension system for those who worked in both Russia and Armenia, as well as access to medical services and related social packages. During the meeting, there were discussions on labor rights, education for children in public schools and preschool institutions when families move to Russia, the use of Armenian driver's licenses within the territory of the Russian Federation, and more.
Concerns were also raised regarding reports in the media related to the dismissal of Armenians working at Sochi Airport.
As a result of the cooperation between the ombudspersons of Armenia and Russia, an acceptance session was held for our compatriots living in the Russian Federation, who had raised their issues by contacting both Armenia's Human Rights Defender and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia in Russia, as well as the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia.
