Armenian Businessman Sentenced to 9 Years in Moscow
The Moscow City Court has found Oleg Mkrtchyan, a Ukrainian-based Armenian businessman, former owner of the "Kuban" football club, and one of the founders of the "Donbas Industrial Union" metallurgy company, guilty of large-scale fraud. This was reported by RBK.
The court has sentenced Mkrtchyan to 9 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony and a fine of 900,000 rubles.
Additionally, the court has upheld the civil claim from the Industrial Assets Fund to recover more than 198 billion rubles from Mkrtchyan. A seizure of the businessman’s assets, valued at 8 billion dollars, has also been maintained.
News of Mkrtchyan's arrest became known on February 8, 2018.
