Russian Deputy Defense Minister Visits Gyumri's 102nd Military Base
A delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defense, led by Deputy Minister Andrey Kartapolov, has visited the 102nd military base located in Gyumri. This was reported by the press service of the Southern Military District of the Russian Defense Ministry.
It was noted that the delegation was welcomed by the command staff of the Russian military unit, representatives from the Russian Consulate General in Gyumri, the Russian Science and Culture Center, and the Shirak Regional Administration.
Vladimir Yelkanov, commander of the Russian military base, briefed the Deputy Minister on the history of the unit's establishment, its structure, operations, and modern military technology.
During the visit, the delegation also learned about the lives and living conditions of servicemen residing in the "Great Fortress" military district, as well as visited the "Hill of Honor" and the "Military Glory" memorial complex, the unit's museum, and St. Alexandra Cathedral.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister formally awarded medals to distinguished officers of the unit, including Alexander Shovalov, the deputy commander responsible for military-political work at the military base.
