There Will Be No Unified Candidate, Says Samvel Babayan
Former commander of the Defense Army of Artsakh, Samvel Babayan, who has announced his intention to participate in the presidential elections of Artsakh scheduled for 2020, remarked in a conversation with journalists regarding his meeting with Arayik Harutyunyan, the president of the 'Free Homeland' party. He stated, 'We have met five times as political entities, because his force holds a majority in the parliament... There will be no unified candidate, we will follow our own path, as there are ideological issues.'
Babayan noted that he has met with the leaders of seven parties and emphasized that it is unnecessary to single out only Arayik Harutyunyan. 'The ruling side is painfully bothered by why I am meeting and trying to seek connections.'
