25-Year-Old Drowns in Lake Sevan While Riding Pedal Boat: Details
The 25-year-old man who drowned at the 'Laguna Beach' on Lake Sevan today was from the Tavush region. He had visited the lake with his family for a vacation, according to Armen Jzmaichyan, commander of the Sevan Water Rescue Team.
“The 25-year-old and a 13-year-old child were on a pedal boat. They had moved about 50 meters from the shore, likely intending to swim when the incident occurred. The water depth in that area was 2 meters; they probably did not know how to swim,” Jzmaichyan stated.
According to him, the 13-year-old child was rescued by citizens from the shore. At 13:23 on August 11, a call was received by the emergency service '911' reporting that citizens were drowning at 'Laguna Beach' on Lake Sevan, requiring rescue services.
The special water rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to the scene. Before the rescuers arrived, one citizen (a 13-year-old) was pulled from the water by bystanders. Rescuers retrieved the body of S.B. (25 years old) from the water.
