Experts from Prague's Chemical Institute Conduct Sampling in Polluted Areas of Alaverdi and Akhtala
Experts from the Prague Chemical Institute are conducting sampling activities in the communities of Alaverdi and Akhtala to determine the chemical contamination of areas impacted by mining and metallurgical enterprises. Specifically, the research aims to uncover the causal relationship between pollution and its effects on human health and the environment.
On July 22, a working group from the 'Community Consolidation and Support Center', 'EcoLur' information NGO, and the Czech 'Arnika' NGO visited the Sanahin and Engels neighborhoods, as well as the Akori settlement in Alaverdi, alongside experts from the Prague Chemical Institute. Samples of soil from residential plots, vegetables, fruits, and greenery, as well as biological samples, were taken on-site.
