«Zhamanak». They Are Trying to Link Funding for Lake Sevan from the USA

«Zhamanak» newspaper reports: "The authorities of Armenia are attempting to use the issue of Lake Sevan to secure funds from abroad. There is an effort to frame the Sevan issue not in the context of governmental shortcomings—such as the uncontrolled discharge of wastewater, the failure to clean the coastal areas, massive fishing of fish and crayfish, and the increase of phosphorus and nitrogen in the water due to the artificial breeding of fish—but as a direct result of a global environmental disaster stemming from climate change. This context explains Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan's statement made in New York, suggesting that 'we may lose Lake Sevan.' In plain terms, it’s a call for funding to save it."
