21-Year-Old Soldier's Car Falls into Kechut Reservoir in Vayots Dzor Region
On July 5, an accident occurred in the Vayots Dzor region. Around 3:50 PM, 21-year-old Manuk Khachatryan, a resident of the city of Jermuk, lost control of his VAZ 2103 car with license plate 18 TT 337 on the bank of the Ketchut Reservoir and overturned into the water.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, M. Khachatryan sustained injuries and was admitted to Vayk Medical Center.
Road police officers from the 1st platoon of the 6th division of the 2nd police battalion, led by platoon commander Gegham Margaryan and squad commander Karen Ohanyan, arrived at the scene. Firefighters and rescuers from the Emergeny Situations Ministry's Jermuk unit also responded, along with the operational group from the Jermuk police department, headed by Deputy Chief Armen Armenakyan.
Senior investigator Sergey Hambardzumyan from the 6th division was in charge of the investigative work on site, and materials are being prepared regarding the incident. According to G. Shamshyan, driver M. Khachatryan serves as a contract soldier in the Armenian Ministry of Defense's N military unit.
