Police Hold ‘Thief by Law’ Merab Kalashov at ‘Zvartnots’: According to His Defender, This Is Kidnapping

‘Thief by law’ Merab Kalashov has been detained at the ‘Zvartnots’ airport and is set to be extradited to France. He is currently located at the line division of the Zvartnots police station.

This was stated by Kalashov’s defender, Armen Melikonyan, in a conversation with Tert.am. “My client has been illegally brought to the line division of the police without grounds and they want to transfer him to France. For two hours, the police have not allowed me to meet with my client. They will answer for this; an employee from the Ministry of Justice has been preventing me from seeing my client for two hours. My client’s flight is at 9:10; he has been illegally taken away, there is no court order. I have been searching for him in various correctional facilities since the morning, and now I have found him at ‘Zvartnots’,” he said.

When asked what specific reasons were given for not allowing him to see his client, Melikonyan stated that they provided various unfounded justifications, saying they were not responsible and were not permitting access.
