42-Year-Old Citizen Attempts Self-Immolation at Ministry of Defense Checkpoint

According to Shamshyan.com, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan on May 17. Around 10:30 AM, a citizen attempted to self-immolate in front of the Armenian Ministry of Defense's checkpoint.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the individual poured gasoline over himself, but before he could ignite it with a lighter, the duty officers at the Ministry of Defense were able to prevent the act of self-immolation.

The citizen was taken to the Nor Nork division of the police, where he revealed that he had doused himself in gasoline due to social issues and intended to commit suicide via self-immolation. According to G. Shamshyan, the individual is 42-year-old Mkhitar A. from the Kotayk Province.
