Employee of St. Sarkis Church Embezzles Money from Collection Box
On April 27, officers from the Sevan police department, acting on operational information, detained 1959-born Meruzhan M. on suspicion of theft from the Nairyan street in Sevan city.
The police report states that during the interrogation, Meruzhan M. confessed that while working as a guard and candle seller at the St. Sarkis Church in the Tsaghkunk community of the Gegharkunik Diocese in 2014, he secretly embezzled various sums of money on different occasions, taking advantage of having the keys to the church's collection box.
The extent of the damages is currently being assessed, and materials are being prepared for further investigation.
