The government made a decision in its meeting today, April 25, to ensure that the increase of the minimum pension to 25,500 drams from January 2019 will not impact the rights of families to receive family or social benefits.

Recently, the National Assembly adopted a law establishing the minimum pension amount at 25,500 drams. This raised the concern that families could lose their eligibility for family or social benefits.

Therefore, the proposal suggests that the amount of pension for individuals recorded in the family vulnerability assessment system as of December 2018 should also be taken into account when assessing family vulnerability in 2019, based on the amount calculated as of December 31, 2018.

If the project is adopted, the establishment of the minimum pension amount from January 2019 will not affect families' eligibility to receive family or social benefits.
