Mihiran Poghosyan Asks for Political Asylum from Russia

The former head of the National Security Service, Mihiran Poghosyan, has requested political asylum from the Russian Federation.

“The request has been officially submitted and properly formalized. The decision (regarding the granting of political asylum) is made by the commission affiliated with the President of the Russian Federation. In my opinion, there are grounds for this. Mihiran Poghosyan is being persecuted for political reasons in his homeland,” stated Poghosyan's lawyer Mikhail Yamchitsky in an interview with the ‘Runa’ publication.
