Sudan's Defense Minister to Govern the Country Following Military Coup
Sudan's Defense Minister Awad ibn Auf has been sworn in as the head of the country's transitional military council, according to Al-Arabiya television.
He has appointed army chief of staff Kemal Abdel Maarouf as his deputy.
Awad ibn Auf announced a state of emergency in the country for three months. He also stated that a two-year transitional period will commence in Sudan for the formation of a government. During these two years, the country will be governed by a transitional council.
It is noteworthy that the Sudanese defense minister had previously announced the execution of a military coup and the arrest of the former president.
