Illegal Logging Incident in Ijevan
On April 5th, at 13:15, detectives from the Ijevan division of the police, acting on received operational information, discovered a ZIL truck owned by 44-year-old Tigran P. in the "Zaruti Gorge" area of the Ijevan Forestry branch of the State Non-Commercial Organization "Hayantar".
The police report indicates that in addition, 20 logs of different diameters, measuring 220 cm in length, of 13 pine and 2 poplar trees were found near the vehicle. Tigran P. did not present the appropriate documents and admitted to illegally cutting down 2 standing poplar and 4 pine trees.
The truck loaded with 15 logs has been moved to a secure area of the division, while 23 logs have been handed over to the employees of the Ijevan Forestry.
The extent of the damage is being determined.
