The Issue Will Soon Be Resolved, He Will No Longer Be in That Position – Nazeni Gharibyan

"I did not dismiss him; his contract had expired. We renewed it for another three months, and after three months, the contract period ended and was automatically terminated," said Nazeni Gharibyan, who is performing the duties of the Minister of Culture, regarding the dismissal of the director of the Vanadzor Hovhannes Abelian State Dramatic Theater.

Regarding the fact that already known figures do not want to see Nazeni Gharibyan in that position, how does she envision resolving the conflict?

"As long as I believe that I am not making any mistakes, I will continue to do my job, and I urge them to do their work as well. As long as my immediate superior does not tell me, 'You must leave,' I will continue to stay in my job," Gharibyan said, adding that she believes the issue will soon be resolved, as the Ministry of Culture will soon merge with the Ministry of Education, and she will no longer be in that position.

"The issue is very clear here – if a person is not performing the duties of the director, why should they remain in that position?" Nazeni Gharibyan commented on the dismissal of Konstantin Orbelyan, the director and artistic director of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.

No one disputes that the Opera Theater has made progress in the last two years compared to previous years. But the issue here is another: if someone holds the positions of director, artistic director, and chief conductor and is largely absent from Armenia, it turns out that the deputy director is performing the duties of the director.

According to Nazeni Gharibyan, if a person in a leadership position is not present in their institution for 200 days out of 365 days a year, then the question arises: who is governing that institution?
