Gevorg Kostanyan Will Address Kocharyan's Case Soon
The interrogation is not conditioned by the individual involved, but the need to question each person should arise from the factual data obtained during the investigation at that moment. This was stated by former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan while responding to a question about whether he still believes there is no need to interrogate the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.
"I am not familiar with the progress of the criminal case, but the idea is that if at that moment the materials of the criminal case contain one basis, and then at a subsequent moment new grounds arise during the course of the investigations, the need for interrogations may or may not emerge," he emphasized.
However, the former prosecutor stressed that if there are grounds, everyone should be questioned regardless of their status. "The interrogation is not conditioned by the individual, but the need to question each person should arise from the factual data acquired during the investigation at that moment. Interrogation is not an end in itself; if there are grounds, anyone should be interrogated, regardless of their status."
When asked if he agrees with the claim that the president did not undermine the constitutional order but rather acted in accordance with his position, he replied, "I will create an opportunity to address that issue soon, including the applicability of the constitutional institute of immunity in other cases."
