Extraordinary Incident in Yerevan: Inmate from Kosh Prison Brutally Beaten, Transferred to Paronyan Street

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal case under the characteristics of point 14 of part 2 of Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code in the investigative department of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts in Yerevan.

According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan, this criminal case was opened on March 30 based on the fact that a citizen, who was transferred to the Armenia Medical Center by the 01 group of the Yerevan emergency medical services, suffered bodily injuries. On that day, around 23:40, a citizen was admitted to the Armenia Medical Center, who, according to doctors' statements, was unable to explain what had happened as he was in the intensive care unit.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police and the Mashtots Police Division discovered that the man was 33-year-old Karen Avetisyan, a resident of Kosh village in Aragatsotn Province, who was an inmate at the Kosh penitentiary facility.

According to G. Shamshyan's information, on April 1, at around 06:00, K. Avetisyan lost consciousness in the intensive care unit at the Armenia Medical Center and subsequently passed away.
