Malatia-Sebastia: Taxes Collected from Individual Entrepreneurs But Embezzled
City hall employees have collected illegal funds from individual entrepreneurs engaged in trade in the market. On March 18, Mayor Hayk Marutyan submitted a written request to the Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, informing him about the circumstances revealed in the framework of the initiated administrative proceedings.
According to the findings, the relevant taxes and fees established by law were received in cash from individual entrepreneurs, but these sums have not been recorded in the local tax accounting program of the Yerevan City Hall.
It has been revealed that 9 individual entrepreneurs, during their operations between 2015 and 2018, provided cash payments ranging from 41,000 to 86,000 AMD annually to city hall employees as a tax for organizing and selling food and alcoholic beverages at the agricultural market operating on Raffi street in Yerevan.
These amounts were received in cash by two specialists from the Trade and Services Department of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district.
A criminal case has been initiated.
