When Will the Government's Decision on Amulsar Be Known? Avinyan
A new expertise will be carried out to obtain answers to all outstanding questions. Today, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan addressed the statements of the company Lydian Armenia, which is engaged in the exploitation of the Amulsar mine, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
According to him, the government does not show any discriminatory treatment towards any economic entity. The issue at hand concerns environmental risks in this case.
“If we see that there are risks that are unmanageable, we will make our decisions accordingly,” he said. According to Avinyan, a deadline has been set for May in this regard.
In response to the question of whether Lydian Armenia will appeal to the arbitration court during this period, Avinyan replied that they mentioned applying within three months in one statement, and in another statement, they referred to six months.
“In any case, we will receive all answers for our society within that timeframe. If those answers are favorable to Lydian company, the company will have no reason to go to court. If the opposite is confirmed, it seems to me that there will be no sense in going to court,” he stated.
When asked whether the Armenian government has assessed the possible damages that may arise in the case of an appeal to the arbitration court, the Deputy Prime Minister replied, “We are well aware of all the risks and have nothing to fear.”
It is noteworthy that the company has warned the Armenian government about the possibility of appealing to the arbitration court.
