Charges Filed in the Murder Case of Serviceman Karen Karapetyan

On March 12, 2019, at approximately 06:50, conscript serviceman Karen Artak Karapetyan sustained gunshot wounds to his left upper limb and torso, resulting in death. This incident occurred at the combat position of military unit N, where a fellow serviceman discharged a firearm. This information was provided by the Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

A criminal case has been initiated in the third garrison investigative department under Part 1 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. As part of the investigation, a number of significant circumstances surrounding the incident have been clarified, including the identity and motive of the alleged perpetrator.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, charges have been filed against the conscript serviceman under Part 2, Point 10 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and he has been placed in custody as a measure of restraint. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case.
