If the issue leads to the resumption of military operations, we will not hesitate. Tonoyan

Our armed forces are victorious forces, and we must not stop moving forward; to move forward, we need healthy servicemen. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Davit Tonoyan, during a broadcast on public television.

He noted that Armenia will not pursue a path of restoring balance with Azerbaijan: “That is not a practical approach. We cannot be equal to Azerbaijan in political, demographic, or economic terms; we will pay more attention to qualitative issues,” said Tonoyan.

The minister emphasized that Armenia is making advancements that will provide an opportunity to neutralize the ambitions of adversaries.

When asked if this concerns the “Su” fighters, Davit Tonoyan responded, “Also the ‘Su’ fighters.”

Regarding the criticisms of acquiring “Su-30” aircraft due to their high cost, Tonoyan replied, “For me, the life of every soldier is priceless. If two pilots in ‘Su-30’ can accomplish a mission from hundreds of kilometers away instead of thousands of servicemen, what are we talking about in terms of cost?”

Tonoyan noted that yes, Armenia has begun to purchase offensive weapons.

“A defending army suffers defeat; we do not intend to remain in defensive positions. If the issue leads to the resumption of military operations, we will not hesitate,” he said.

When asked if we would attack, he replied, “Why not?”
