Vardenyats Pass Closed for All Vehicle Types

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 19 at 1:30 PM, there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed for all types of vehicles.

The intercommunity roads in the regions of Aragatsotn province are closed for the villages of Nigavan, Lusagugh, Saralanj, Vardenis, Chknagh, Yeghipatrush, Mirak, Ttujur, and Dzoraglukh. In the Aragats region, the roads serving the villages of Sipan, Avshen, Charjakis, Midjatun, Shengkani, and Leranrot are also closed.

The Sotk-Karvachar and the community roads in the village of Hnaberd, Aragatsotn province, are difficult to pass.

In Shirak province, the Gyumri-Ashotsk community road and the Geghadzor community road in Aragatsotn province have patches of black ice.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.

According to information from the Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry of Georgia’s Road Department, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is closed for freight trucks. As reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of North Ossetia, there are 52 freight trucks piled up on the Russian side.
