Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has submitted an official request for a presidential pardon to President Isaac Herzog amid ongoing legal proceedings against him. This was reported by Channel 12 of Israeli television.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu has submitted an official request for a presidential pardon to the president,” the television channel's news service reported.
Earlier, President Isaac Herzog's office announced that they received a letter from former U.S. President Donald Trump, in which the American leader urged to cease the criminal prosecution against Netanyahu and grant a pardon to the prime minister. Herzog responded by stating that an official request from the individual seeking the presidential pardon would be necessary.
