EU Countries Have Been Excluded from Peace Negotiations on Ukraine Conflict, Lavrov Says
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that EU countries have been excluded from peace negotiations regarding the Ukraine conflict, undermining all previous agreements. He emphasized, "Europe has failed to reach a preliminary agreement for resolution as of February 2014."
The Foreign Minister also added that European countries similarly disrupted the Minsk and Istanbul agreements. "Thus, Europe has wasted all its opportunities," Lavrov concluded.
According to the minister, participation of European countries in negotiations surrounding former U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan has not been practically discussed. Bloomberg had previously reported that Europe has been excluded from most discussions on the peace plan and is involved only in those issues where its participation is deemed essential.
