Berlin Urges NATO Allies to Exercise Caution
Berlin has warned NATO allies to be cautious during the "Quadriga 2025" military exercises taking place in the Baltic countries, coinciding with Russia's "Zapad 25" drills in Belarus.
The Chief Inspector of the Bundeswehr, Carsten Breuer, stated that the overlapping dates of the exercises require maximum restraint from the alliance to avoid unnecessary escalation. "We aim for restraint, not escalation," he emphasized at a press conference in Berlin.
Earlier, on August 31, Belarus announced plans for the potential use of nuclear weapons during the "Zapad 2025" exercises. The First Deputy Defense Minister, Major General Pavel Muraveyko, also noted that they will address issues related to public security, countering external aggression, and combating illegal armed groups as well as sabotage and reconnaissance units.
