Foreign Nationals Granted Temporary or Permanent Residency Status in Armenia
In Armenia, from January to June 2025, a total of 1,815 foreign nationals received temporary residency status, while 1,775 obtained permanent residency status. This information is confirmed by data published by the Statistical Committee.
Among those who received temporary residency, 638 were granted status based on family reunification, 769 on educational grounds, 398 for engaging in entrepreneurial activities, and 10 due to Armenian ethnicity.
In the first half of the year, the largest group of individuals receiving temporary residency came from Russia, with 474 individuals. Furthermore, 466 citizens from India and 293 from Iran also received temporary status during this period.
Regarding permanent residency status, out of the 1,775 recipients, 209 had lived in Armenia for at least three years prior to applying for permanent residency (requirements include having a spouse who is an Armenian citizen or has special residency status, and proof of housing and means of subsistence), 251 obtained the status through entrepreneurial endeavors, and 1,315 were granted residency due to their Armenian ethnicity.
The largest number of permanent residency permits were also issued to citizens of Russia, totaling 970 people. Throughout the six months, 143 citizens from Georgia, 117 from Syria, 113 from Ukraine, and 48 from Lebanon also received permanent residency status in Armenia.
