Zelensky and Putin Meeting Probability is Zero, It is Trump's Fantasy: Lavrov
Ukraine has ignored Russia's proposal to establish three working groups on military, humanitarian, and political issues within the framework of the negotiation process, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced at a press conference, as reported by TASS.
“In the last, third phase, our negotiators proposed the creation of three working groups to discuss the agenda more concretely: groups on military, humanitarian, and political issues. So far, there has been no response from Ukraine,” the head of the Russian foreign ministry noted.
Lavrov also commented on a recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. “Our president proposed not only to continue these negotiations but also to consider raising the level of delegation leaders. This fits into our proposal to create separate blocks to discuss the political aspects of the settlement. We expect that he will convey and explain this to the representatives of Kyiv, and we will receive a response. This will be an important step towards increasing the level of specificity and moving towards the discussion of the main issues necessary for a stable resolution,” Lavrov stated.
According to him, the probability of a meeting between Zelensky and Putin at the end of August is zero. “In the future, those possibilities are also extremely small or completely absent. The summit between Putin and Zelensky is nothing but Trump's fantasy. He has probably either misunderstood Putin’s position or has fallen into delusion,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
