‘The slap to Macron was a joke’: Élysée Palace

The French president's office has denied media reports suggesting that during an official visit to Vietnam, First Lady Brigitte Macron intentionally slapped her husband in front of cameras.

The rumors began circulating after a video produced by the AP agency showed Emmanuel Macron exiting the presidential plane and clearly receiving a slap to the face. However, the assailant was out of the frame.

A representative from Macron's close circle commented to the media, stating, 'What occurred was the result of a minor disagreement between the couple.'

Later, the Élysée Palace issued a special statement regarding the incident, claiming, 'The video captures the moment when the president and his wife were jokingly unwinding just before the start of the trip.'

Additionally, we previously reported that footage appeared online showing how France’s President Emmanuel Macron was slapped or simply pushed by his wife, Brigitte Macron.
