No Need for Another Candidate: Erdogan Set to Run Again in Elections
Turkey is considering the candidacy of incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the upcoming extraordinary presidential elections scheduled for November 2027. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the vice president of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Huseyin Yayman.
“We hope to nominate our president again for the elections in November 2027. There is no need for another candidate. In the next elections, we will once again make our president the leader of the country,” he stated during a meeting with party members in Antalya.
It is noteworthy that at the end of February, the Türkiye newspaper, referencing internal discussions within the AKP, reported that members of the ruling party are informally discussing the option of holding extraordinary presidential and parliamentary elections in the autumn of 2027.
